The Stuttgart Oratorio Choir performed Antonín Dvořák’s „Stabat Mater“ for the second time after 12 years last Palm Sunday. Enrico Trummer succeeded in leading all participants to a brilliant musical performance this evening. An excellently disposed choir was able to sing and play this ingenious composition with its glorious moments and incomparable emotionality directly into the soul of our audience through a variety of creative details, sometimes in alternation, but also together with a fantastic quartet of soloists and a highly professional orchestra. Änderung des Konzertorts!

Der Chor hatte sich schon sehr über die Einladung der Elisabeth-Kirche zum Passionskonzert gefreut. Sich einen neuen Konzertplatz zu erobern ist schließlich eine spannende Angelegenheit. Eine eingehende Überprüfung der örtlichen Gegebenheiten ergab aber, dass die Platzverhältnisse für einen Chor, das Solistenquartett und ein größeres Orchester beim besten Willen nicht günstig sind. Der mitgebrachte Zollstock und verschiedene Stühle-Konstellationen waren eindeutig: Groß besetzte oratorische Aufführungen werfen in dieser Kirche leider ernsthafte Probleme auf. Denn auch das Ausleihen sowie der Transport von Chorpodesten, ohne die eine vernünftige Aufstellung des Chors nicht gegangen wäre, erwies sich als eine größere Hürde als ursprünglich angenommen. Change of the concert venue!

The choir had been very happy about the invitation of the Elisabeth Church to the Passion Concert. After all, conquering a new concert venue is an exciting affair. However, a thorough check of the local conditions revealed that the space conditions for a choir, the quartet of soloists and a larger orchestra were not favourable by any stretch of the imagination. The folding rule we brought with us and various chair constellations were clear: unfortunately, large-scale oratorio performances pose serious problems in this church.
